The Foundation will transfer the administration of its scholarship
program and funding to a third-party organization specializing in
educational scholarships, which will be identified and announced in the
near future. The Board of Directors will appoint a liaison committee to
work with this organization and will continue operating under this new
structure until industry conditions permit a return to a self-governing
independent entity.

SongVote – Collaborative Playlisting.

There are several websites that readers have asked to be reviewed in JoME.  C-Span has made available its archives (http://www.c-spanvideo.org).  Are you using this resource in the classroom?  If so, perhaps you might review the benefits and drawbacks of this resource.  Have you ever heard of Video Copilot (http://www.videocopilot.net)?  They offer free tutorials for After Effects and other software.  Maybe you’ve got some insight to share about their content.

If you’re one of our readers who are working with NATPE, or on a Fulbright, please remember that your experiences are of real interest and value to your colleagues.  You may want to consider submitting an article about those experiences, or even co-authoring an article with a colleague as Dom Caristi did in JoME 1.1.

Those who know me know that I have a love of the outdoors and a deep respect for nature.  I spend a lot of time hiking, camping, riding, and photographing wildlife and nature, and advocate the “leave no trace” philosophy.  So what does this have to do with JoME?  Well, just this…many of us have a love of the world around us, and are interested in preserving it for those yet to come.  The buzzword is “Sustainability”.  But how does that translate into what we do in the classroom?  Are you teaching environmental reporting?  What about travel/nature photography and videography?  Have your students done internships with National Geographic or Greenpeace?  What about teaching ad campaigns or web designs that focus on sustainability?  In October, I would like JoME to focus on Sustainability and what that means in media education.  I want to know what we are doing to ensure the next generation of media professionals will continue to have a voice in the preservation of our world.  So send in your articles about how sustainability translates into pedagogical practice, how you teach to and about sustainability, and how the rest of us can adopt some of these techniques in our classrooms.

And thanks to Fred Thorne for making me think about these things a bit more!
